Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Food Service Worker to join our team at TX Citywide Professional Services. This position plays a crucial role in the preparation, distribution, and service of meals to inmates within a secure correctional environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a structured and regulated setting. This is a direct and fast-paced environment. If you are sensitive to straightforward instructions, which may occasionally be perceived as blunt, or if you are uncomfortable working in high-security settings, this role may not be a suitable fit for you.

Must be able to understand and speak English clearly and communicate effectively.

Location: Houston, TX, 77002

Pay Rate: $15.00 an hour

Shift: 10 am-6 pm

Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to established recipes and dietary requirements.

Portion and distribute food following portion control guidelines.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and dining areas.

Follow all safety and security protocols, including handling and storing food safely.

Adhere to dietary restrictions and special meal requests as directed.

Assist in inventory management and stock rotation of food supplies.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment preferred.

Knowledge of food safety guidelines and regulations are a must. A Food Handler's Certification will be required before orientation and beginning work.

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with inmates and staff.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to stand throughout your 8-hour shift is required.

Ability to work in a secure correctional facility environment.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Must pass Background, Drug, and TB Screen.

Must be able to speak and read English instructions.

Uniform Requirements: A black collared polo shirt with sleeves extending to at least the mid-upper arm (no prints allowed), black pants, and black slip-resistant shoes are required. All items should be in good condition and fit loosely.

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 25lbs.

To tickets, and any fees, including toll fees, owed to Harris County must be cleared before applying.

No Expired IDs/License

No wearing of jewelry, including facial jewelry.

No visible face or neck tattoos.

No fake or long nails, and no nail decorations such as rhinestones/crystals are allowed.
